Potassium hydroxide

Domestic potassium hydroxide manufacturers produce potassium hydroxide, an inorganic compound with the chemical formula KOH. It is a common inorganic base with strong alkalinity. A 0.1 mol/L solution has a pH of 13.5. It is soluble in water and ethanol, slightly soluble in ether, and highly hygroscopic, readily absorbing moisture from the air and deliquescing. It absorbs carbon dioxide to form potassium carbonate. It is primarily used as a raw material for producing potassium salts and is also applied in electroplating, printing, and dyeing.

Applications: 1. Used in electroplating, engraving, lithography, etc.

2. Serves as a raw material for potassium salt production.

3. In the pharmaceutical industry, it is used to produce potassium borohydride, spironolactone, batyl alcohol, testosterone propionate, progesterone, vanillin, etc.

4. In the light industry, it is used to produce potassium soap, alkaline batteries, and cosmetics (such as cold cream, vanishing cream, and shampoo).

5. In the dye industry, it is used to produce vat dyes, such as Vat Blue RSN.

6. Used as an analytical reagent, saponification reagent, and moisture absorbent.

7. In the textile industry, it is used for printing, dyeing, bleaching, and mercerizing. It is also extensively used as a primary raw material for manufacturing artificial fibers and polyester fibers, as well as for producing melamine dyes.

8. Also applied in metallurgical heating agents and leather degreasing.
